Frank Lloyd Wright (1869-1959)

Wright represented organic
architecture  and postulated
the view of a building as
 an organism.
Some designs are reminiscent
of skeletons  of marine organisms

or spiders' webs.
In the New York Guggenheim Museum, built 1946-1959, he applied the spiral to the main circulation space of the exhibition hall.
This was a controversial concept until today, but the resulting space is impressive.
The prominent site bordering the Central Park enhances the impression.
Wright also used the spiral as a circulation ramp in smaller projects, like the Morris house in San Francisco, which was built 1948-1949.
