using these docks to create a slightly curved facade
toward
a great entrance plaza which closes the beach areas and
the west seaside
walk to the remaining industrial zones left
in the bay.

The Gijón Aquarium, located on Poniente Beach in Gijón, Spain, was designed primarily by architect Álvaro Planchuelo, in collaboration with Susana Sánchez-Izquierdo, Laura de Aurora, and Luis de la Infanta. The design competition was held in 2003, and the building was completed in 2006.
